For members enrolled in a Medicare Advantage (MA) only Private Fee-for-Service (PFFS) plan, they can also enroll in a standalone Prescription Drug Plan (PDP). This arrangement is important because while the MA-only PFFS plan provides coverage for medical services, it does not include prescription drug coverage. Therefore, members who require prescription medications can benefit from enrolling in a standalone PDP to ensure they have access to necessary drugs.

In contrast, other options such as being enrolled in another MA plan or Original Medicare would generally create duplication as both offer comprehensive coverage, while any commercial insurance may not be compatible or necessary if the MA plan already provides adequate coverage. The key point is that having a standalone PDP works synergistically with the MA-only PFFS plan by filling the gap in prescription drug coverage without conflicting with the services provided by the PFFS plan.
