When a member enrolls in a Medicare Advantage (MA) plan that includes Part D coverage, their stand-alone Prescription Drug Plan (PDP) is automatically terminated. This is because enrollment in a Medicare Advantage plan that provides drug coverage supersedes the existing stand-alone PDP. The MA-Part D plan is designed to be an all-in-one option for members, offering both medical and prescription drug coverage. Therefore, the member cannot maintain both plans simultaneously, ensuring that there is no overlap in coverage or extra costs associated with having redundant plans. This seamless transition allows members to receive their benefits under the MA plan without the complication of managing two separate plans.
